For comic books new and old, there is no finer place to look than this Medical Center shop. Stocked with a wide variety of classic comics and the latest offerings, it also carries a large selection of role-playing games, toys, models, cards, novels and videos. Japanese anime is a hot item, as are the latest collectibles related to the most popular movies and games. Drop by and use the game rooms for a match of your favorite board game or browse through the comics to find the Superman that will complete your collection.
Anime fans have a place to shop at Ooples in San Antonio. This store has movies, books, clothing, accessories and more, along with an expert staff who can help you find something you'll love. Whether you're a fan of Pokemon, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, and other popular franchises, or more obscure anime, you'll be pleased with the selection offered here.
If you have too much thyme on your hands, or wish you had a little more, the annual Herb Market is the place to be. It hosts 30-plus exhibits offering everything from fresh potted herbs to herbal products and gardening tools. Several speakers are slated to cover various related topics, with a favorite subject being how to cook with herbs. The event also offers cooking demonstrations, crafts, and activities to keep the children busy while you browse. The Herb Market is a one-day event that usually takes place on a Saturday in October.
This history of Finck's Cigar Factory Outlet dates back to the 1880s when Reinhold Finck started the Finck cigar factory. Now, at the store, you can choose from an incredible selection of cigars. The knowledgeable staff will be able to guide you in finding the right cigar or pipe. They carry a selection made in their own factory, and others from around the world.
Crossroads Mall is known for two things: the theater, which brings San Antonio the kind of art-house films ignored by the monstrous 24-screen cineplexes popping up around the city and the Burlington Coat Factory. Bargain hunters will enjoy the mall for this store alone, but they will find more discount shopping at Super Target as well as the relatively "upscale" Steinmart, which carries brand names found at Dillard's and Macy's. Crossroads has a nice food court and a beautiful fountain that features jazz music during the summer weekends.
If you are looking for sheet music, there is no better place to look than at RBC. Whether for band instruments, guitar, piano or vocals, RBC carries the sheet music that you'll need. The store is hidden inside the Koger center off Loop 410, but once you find it, it proves to have an enormous selection of music books, karaoke tapes and musical gifts. From classical music to the very latest pop hits, the inventory of songs is amazing. How-to-play books are available for every instrument, and fake books are also offered to help you gain emergency musical knowledge. If you're not sure what sheet music you need, ask the staff. They'll do their best to help you find the right artist and songs.
Simply described, Half-Price Books sells hardbacks, paperbacks, glossy magazines, vinyl LPs, circular CDs, tapes, videos and even software. It also pays cash for these same items. The inventory hasn't yet made it into a computer database, so you'll have to "hunt and pick," but then again, that's half the fun. The store's unhurried atmosphere makes it a great place to while away a Sunday afternoon or even a lunch hour. But as you meander through the aisles, keep an eye out for the store's mascot a very white, very fat and very contented cat named Sebastian.
Shop for secondhand books at reasonable prices at Nine Lives Books. Feel free to browse the shelves and take a seat on one of several cozy chairs to go over your selections before you walk up to the register. If you have gently used books, bring them in to sell and use the money towards an exciting new literary adventure. Their collection spans the most popular genres, so you're likely to find something you can't live without.
If you aren't a cowboy, at least you can dress like one. Cavender's Boot City carries everything you need—boots, jeans, shirts, belts and hats. To really blend in here in Texas, opt for Wrangler jeans, a Wrangler Brushpopper shirt and some Justin Roper boots. If you pick out a Resistol hat, be sure you wear straw from after Easter up until Labor Day, and felt after Labor Day all the way through to Easter. This location is not far from Far West Rodeo, one of the largest country and western bars in the city. How convenient! San Antonio offers two other locations as well.
This bookstore calls itself the "how to improve your life bookstore" and it offers plenty of items to help you do just that. Located on Blanco Road just north of downtown, the store is an oasis of New Age harmony situated along a busy street. The store is filled with books on spirituality, UFOs, metaphysics, alternative health and healing. It stocks New Age accessories such as wind chimes, incense, crystals, tarot cards, scented massage oils and a large selection of cassette tapes on spiritual subjects. Classes, readings, counseling and seminars are also offered.
Whether you need to accessorize your home for every day living or stock up on snacks for a picnic in the park, Cost Plus is your one-stop shop. This spacious store is filled to capacity with authentic and affordable goods from such exotic locales as Africa, Burma, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy and Malaysia. When you get tired of trying out the furniture and lamps, appraising the baskets and framed prints and restocking your kitchen accessories, you can browse the aisles of olives, crackers, cookies, chocolates, sodas and wine. When you've had enough of that, make your way to the back of the store and enjoy a cup of fresh-brewed coffee.
The city's premiere mall, North Star draws shoppers from all over the state and from as far away as Mexico. Anchored by Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Dillard's, the mall is also home to smaller stores such as Talbots and the Disney Store. The mall bustles with activity year round and even offers valet parking during the holiday season.
