Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott is a hip-hop artist from Brooklyn, New York who creates music under the moniker Joey Bada$$. Shortly after releasing a mixtape with his hip-hop collective Pro Era in 2012, he dropped his debut solo effort, 1999, capturing the attention of New York's underground scene as well as mainstream media sources at the young age of 17. »The Contortionist

    October 22, 2014 7:30 PM

The Contortionist is a progressive metal band from Indianapolis that was founded in 2007. Opting to incorporate a sound that requires adept musicianship on behalf of the band members, The Contortionist has attracted a certain type of adhearent listener who likes staunch metal, that's striped of any pretense or faux aesthetic sensibility. For the first few years after the band's formation, it gigged around the Mid West, where it sharpened it's sonic approach, before locking itself away in the studio to record its debut album, Exoplanet, which was release in 2010.

    »Rubblebucket * Landlady * Hank and Cupcakes

    October 22, 2014 8:15 PM

Brooklyn-based Rubblebucket is truly a 21st Century band with little regard for genre or conventional songwriting. Combining styles of electronic dance music, afrobeat, hip-hop and indie pop, the group refused to be pigeonholed by those who want easily digestible music. Rubblebucket is particularly known for their live show, during which all 8 members represent the spectrum of influence that sets them a part from the rest.
