Lucius is a five-piece indie folk band from New York City that is fronted by dual vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. The two friends and long-time collaborators met while attending Boston's Berklee School of Music, and the young artists quickly developed a synergy that allows them to tell stories and create music as one unit. After assembling a band with the addition of musicians Danny Molad, Peter Lalish and Andrew Burri, Wolfe and Laessig released Lucius's eponymous debut EP in 2013.

Having spent the majority of his childhood in New Orleans, singer/songwriter and musician Chris Smither is heavily influenced by the blues of Louisiana as well as American folk music. Acting off of the advice of his musical hero Eric Von Schmidt, Smither moved to Cambridge, MA and began writing and performing his own songs. He developed a local following and released his debut album I'm a Stranger, Too, in 1970. He has since been performing and releasing his brand of blues-inspired Americana that is best exemplified on the 2006 effort, Leave the Light On. The album featured the hit track "Diplomacy," earned him the 42nd spot on Rolling Stone's list of 100 Best Songs of the Year.

Even though the Atlanta, Georgia-based band Black Lips might look like a bunch of adolescent misanthropes, they are one of the most true-to-heart bands on the touring circuit today. The group originally garnered a reputation for being a band with a wild and unpredictable stage show, but as the group matured it has turned into a group of dedicated musicians who rarely step off their impressive touring regime. The group's sound--a unique mix of garage and noise rock--has helped the band become a noteworthy mainstay among serious music connoisseurs.

Trampled by Turtles (also known as TBT for short) is a bluegrass band from Duluth, Minnesota that describes its special brand of the celebrated and uniquely American genre as "thrashgrass." Proclaimed by music publications as being quite possibly the best live act in the state of Minnesota, Trampled by Turtles has a talent for convincing audiences of widely disparate musical tastes to enjoy its markedly untraditional style of bluegrass. Having released several albums since the band's debut in 2004, Trampled by Turtles is already starting to see its influence spread by leaps and bounds, leading many to label the band as one of the first to bring bluegrass into the 21st Century.
