Asheville, NC 28801
Chicago singer-songwriter Joe Pug doesn't take his namesake from the cute dogs of the same name, though he has managed to capture a faithful following much like the animal itself. Pug writes mainly folk and rock inspired songs, in league with the M. Wards and Josh Ritters of the world, however Pug's passion for music has led him to some ingenious self-marketing. Touring extensively, Pug often sells his own tickets through his website, most of them at cheaper prices than ticketing partners. Pug also gives out sampler CDs of his music for free, which he claims has boosted his actual album and song sales dramatically, a prime example of how music as a gift inspires its subsequent purchase.

The ultra versatile electronic musician RJD2, or Ramble John Krohn, has experimented with several different styles of music production - even uncharacteristically releasing an album featuring Krohn playing instruments and singing on nearly ever single track. The musician originally rose to fame as a proficient turntable maestro, but as technology and musical use of the turntable was deemed slightly outdated, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based musician has started computerized electronic music composition to keep his sound relevant.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, electronic beatsmith Elliot Lipp grew an affinity for early hip-hop and electro from a young age, and when he was old enough, he left his quiet existence in Tacoma for a more art-centric life in San Francisco. After an eventual move to Los Angeles, he delved headfirst into production and was soon noticed by renowned electronic musician Scott Herren, known by his moniker Prefuse 73, who offered him a recording contract. This proved to be the catalyst that Lipp needed to jump-start his career, and after releasing his debut LP in 2006, Lipp has been touring quite frequently to promote his innovative albums and EPs. Bolstering his unique sound by using analog synths and hip-hop styled beats, he's able to build an extremely methodical sonic aesthetic that tends to go over well with connoisseurs of electronic music.

Rhode Island-based singer-songwriter Cheryl Wheeler is something of an underground legend in American folk music history. Having written material performed by folk legends like Peter, Paul, and Mary, as well as people like Garth Brooks and Kenny Loggins, Wheeler's songwriting skills have no doubt been validated many times over. Aside from Wheeler's songwriting prowess, her live performances are considered to be one of her major draws. Often including storytelling and humor, Wheeler weaves a uniquely dynamic performance experience into an already deep catalog.
