Kem Owens is an R&B singer/songwriter and producer from Detroit, Michigan, who releases music under the name KEM. Using music and spirituality to rise above addiction and homelessness, he offers a classic brand soul-infused R&B without adhering to modern standard of fusing R&B with hip-hop elements, like many of his contemporaries. After self-producing his first album, Kemistry, KEM signed with Motown Records in 2001, and the iconic imprint released the debut in 2003. With an audience among fans of smooth, old school R&B and neo soul, he continues to release material including 2010's Intimacy: Album III.
Zeds Dead is a dubstep and electro project consisting of producers DC and Hooks. Having previously collaborated as Mass Productions, the Toronto-based duo formed Zeds Dead in 2009, aiming to capitalize on the booming bass-driven nature of dubstep. The group's original productions are frequently utilized in sets by heavy-hitters on the electronic scene, including Bassnectar and Diplo, and were used in a 2010 video shoot for GQ magazine. With its EDM tracks and inspired remix work proving to be very fruitful in the early stages of its career, it seems as though Zeds Dead will remain an electronic music fixture for years to come.
