This expansive park located centrally in the city offers numerous facilities for sporting enthusiasts. The park boasts of four baseball and softball fields as well as a t-ball field. Just a short hour's drive to the east takes locals to one of their favorite country retreats in Hard Labor Creek Park. Despite the name, leisure is more the order of the day, with day-trippers and overnight guests taking advantage of the park's four picnic shelters, 20 cottages, 46 trailer and RV sites, and miles of nature, hiking, and equestrian trails. A small boating lake is on hand for water sports and fishing, plus a fishing stream and golf course for more casual outdoor enthusiasts.
Watson Mill Bridge State Park is another of Georgia's interestingly named natural facilities, located a few miles south of Comer on GA-22, 60 miles (100 kilometers) east of Atlanta. Depending on your idea of good outdoor fun, choose from 21 tent, trailer or RV campsites, pioneer camping facilities, or 70 picnic sites, three with group shelters. Other attractions include a swimming pool, rental canoes and paddle boats, streams for fishing, and nature and hiking trails. You'll even find an equestrian trail for the horse lovers in the group.
