    Ever wondered what life was like on a 17th-century farm? Jourdan-Brachman Pioneer Farms is where you can relive all of those days gone by at the carefully simulated theme areas. Whether it is an 1860s German Immigrant Farm, an 1880s Cotton Planter Farm, or an 1870s Texan Farm, all of these can be revisited thanks to the brilliant reconstruction of the architects. Arts, crafts, games and general kid fun are all part of the curriculum. Twice a week when the weather is appropriate, the kids walk down to Shipe, a public pool, for a quick dip to cool off. So pack up the kids with a swimsuit and let them romp and stomp at the Hancock Recreation Center.

    Every neighborhood needs a park. If it is in Texas, that park needs a pool if anyone is to survive the three digit summers! Ship Park & Pool is located on 45th street and Avenue G, just minutes away from Daily Juices and across from the Elizabeth Ney museum. As the location is surrounded by residential accommodations, this is a family-friendly pool. You can hear the sounds of kids attempting the belly flop from the street. The park also comes with changing rooms, a playground, and a big field for games like frisbee and football. Annexed to the park are two tennis courts, and a basketball court. Shipe is only open during the summer!

    Tom's Dive & Swim is one of the oldest dive shops in town, established in 1982 and serving Austin for over 25 years. It offers local diving trips and excursions to the coral reefs of the Cayman Islands and Honduras. The professional instruction team offers a variety of classes for all skill levels and the store is filled with ski equipment, scuba gear, rental equipment and a repair center.     Eastwoods Park is a family-friendly nine-acre (3.64-hectare) outdoor space located just shy of the border of the University of Texas campus. It is easy to completely forget about its existence as it is hidden behind student accommodations and fraternity housing. What this park offers is a place for families to relax on a sunny afternoon with a playground for the kids. You will also find students taking advantage of the open space to read and play some sports. The park includes two tennis courts, two basketball courts, a splash pad, walking trails, picnic tables, and four barbecue pits for those of you who love to grill in the great outdoors.     This is not just a place where the Lady Longhorns wag their tail feathers! This $4.5 million softball complex has witnessed the Longhorns winning the regional softball championship. Located next to UT's Disch-Falk field, the complex hosts 11 home games (mostly double headers) during the season from February to April. It is advised that you purchase your tickets in advance.

    Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center is the aquatics facility of the University of Texas at Austin with limited public access. Built in 1977, it was later named after alumnus Joe Jamail and his wife Lee, who are renowned benefactors. The main pool is nine feet (2.7 meters) deep and its state-of-the-art features make it one of the fastest pools in the country. It is available for recreation and educational classes in swimming and scuba-diving. This venue hosts an array of national sporting tournaments and championships.

    The Texas Volleyball team sometimes practices and has matches at the Gregory Gym, which happens to be one of the finest collegiate volleyball facilities in the country. The site, better known as the home of the Longhorns, reopened in 1998 after an eight-year layoff. Locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms and a players' lounge are available for jocks throughout the year. There are also an exercise room, climbing wall, badminton, handball, basketball and volleyball courts.
