Artisans will demonstrate skills that were used on Louisiana plantations and farms during harvest time in the 1800's. These include harvesting, hunting, corn grinding, soap making, and open hearth cooking. The annual Rural Life Harvest Days will take place September 24 & 25, 2011.
Built in 1850 this ornately designed antebellum home is one of the last remaining examples of its kind in Baton Rouge. Located on the Highland Road, the splendid estate also features two pretty gazebos and a beautiful fountain, thus providing the background for most charming private events in the community. Used primarily for romantic weddings, the Mount Hope Plantation can accommodate up to 200 guests.
The Baton Rouge Symphony is Louisiana's oldest, continuously performing orchestra. They offer several orchestral and chamber concerts per year via special events and series.

As one of Baton Rouge's top live music venues and bars, the Varsity Theatre has been around since 1991. Everything from the projection screens, decor, stage setup to the lighting and expert mixologists are top notch, making it easy to see why its so popular among the city folk.
