The Chicago White Sox are a Major League Baseball team and a member of the American League Central Division. Originally named the Chicago White Stockings, the White Sox entered the league in 1900 as one of the eight American League charter franchises. Perhaps the best known event in franchise history was the “Black Sox Scandal,” in which a group of White Sox players were accused of purposefully losing the 1919 World Series. Eight players, including Shoeless Joe Jackson were banned from baseball for life.

»Doug Rosenberg's Better Than Tv -- A Night Of Original Jazz Music

    August 27, 2014 8:00 PM

Jazz saxophonist Doug Rosenberg's debut CD as a bandleader, "Better Than TV", makes it clear that he's part of the new generation of jazz musicians, composing and improvising for the next century. Once you hear him, his sound is instantly recognizable, as is his highly personal melodic language. Best known for his work with Eastern Blok and Goran Ivanovic, he's also collaborated with such jazz greats as Sam Barsh, Maurice Brown, Kelan Phil Cohran, Robert Glasper, Robert "Baabe" Irving III, Rakalam Bob Moses and Kendrick Scott. The "Chicago Tribune" praises his "fearlessness of spirit and a robustness of tone that seem likely to win him a devoted following in coming years." So turn off the TV and instead spend an evening being entertained with "Better Than TV" jazz at City Winery.
