Jonathan McCollum is a rapper who emerged out of Gwinnett County, GA under the name Rittz in 1992. After over a decade of industry disappointments, just when he was ready to give up his hip-hop dreams, he caught the attention of fellow rapper Yelawolf, who also hails from a small, under-represented town. The Gadsden, AL-based rapper featured Rittz on his track "Box Chevy," which appeared on the 2010 album Trunk Muzik 0-60. The two artists toured the US together in 2012, and in 2013, Rittz dropped his debut album, The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant, on Strange Music.

It is rare to find a songwriter with the hyper-literate sensibility and emotive voice of The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy. From “The Mariner’s Revenge Song,” which clocks in at nearly ten minutes and tells the story of a young mariner stuck in a whale with the man who wronged his late mother, to The Hazards of Love, a full-length indie folk rock opera of enchantments, transformation and forbidden love, the Portland-based group's music oftentimes reads like a bit from a novel framed behind a wall of exquisite, accordion-tinged sound. Whether dark and murderous, triumphant and whimsical or tender and lovesick, The Decemberists always create thought-provoking music.

With a well noted sound that's well rooted in 1970s rock, soul and funk, The Doobie Brothers have managed to be remembered as one of the premier acts of its generation. Active from 1970 to 1982 before reuniting in 1987, the band released its self-titled debut album in 1971 and has since released over a dozen studio albums. Though The Doobie Brothers has experienced a number of line-up changes over the years, the group still tours and has maintained a reputation for putting on an impressive live show despite the departure of vocalist Michael McDonald.
