The Michaux State Forest comprises an enormous amont of land in Pennsylvania, some 85,500 acres of pristine forest land that offers a wide variety of outdoor education and activities. The forest was the site of one of the first forestry schools in the nation, the Pennsylvania State Mont Alto campus, founded in 1905. Visitors to the park can coast along its 130 miles of winding scenic roads, set out on one of the numerous hiking trails throughout the park, or even sneak in a quick round of gold on the 9-hole golf course.
With 1,328 different monuments and places of interest, a trip to the Gettysburg National Military Park can be a truly educative and knowledgeable experience for everyone, be it kids or adults. This is the place from where President Lincoln had made his famous Gettysburg address. This is the place where the Battle of Gettysburg had taken place during the American Civil War. Visitors can stroll around the park campus, or visit various museums, quarters, cemeteries of soldiers and many more places within. Various activities, concerts and celebrations are also held in the park.
A section of the Catoctin Mountain ridge forms the panoramic Catoctin Mountain Park. Visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, cross country skiing and other interesting activities in the park. The park is open to public throughout the year. The Visitor center is closed on major holidays.
