After teaching himself how to play the piano, Greece-born musician Yanni started giving recitals and performances to family members and friends as a child. His interest in grandiosely constructed instrumental music was apparent at a young age, although after moving to the United States to study at the University of Minnesota, Yanni started to create more rock-centric songs with a band he was in at the time called Chameleon. The group achieved moderate success in the Midwest region, but after graduating with a B.A. in psychology, Yanni decided to move to Los Angeles to start a career in film soundtrack work. While he didn't find much work scoring movies, Yanni did compose a good deal of modern classical work and he released his debut LP, Optimystique, in 1984. Comprised of easy listening, adult contemporary material, Yanni's first album failed to establish the Greek musician as a formidable music talent, but as he continued to release interesting material, his fame began to grow. After playing the historic Acropolis Theater in Greece with a full orchestra and releasing the recording in 1994, Yanni became a seminal fixture of the new age and contemporary instrumental music scene--especially due to the fact that the American Public Broadcasting System used the televised recording for a three-year-long fundraising campaign.
Founded by ex-Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice, Kill Devil Hill is a hard rock band from Los Angeles. Appice teamed up with bassist Rec Brown from Pantera, guitarist Mark Zavon from W.A.S.P. and vocalist Jason Bragg from Pissing Razors in 2011 and together they created a heavy metal/hard rock sound that leaves out the indecipherable vocals that so many hardcore bands cling to. Kill Devil Hill released its eponymous first album in 2012 before embarking on a national tour with Adrenaline.
The Revivalists is a band from New Orleans that specializes in creating a style of music that blends several genres that are quintessential parts of The Big Easy's heritage. Formed in 2007, the group gigged around the many bars and music venues in New Orleans for a couple of years--refining its sound and honing its musical approach--before entering the studio to record its 2010 debut album, Vital Signs. The LP's intelligent combination of Crescent City jazz, progressive blues and rock helped establish the band as one of the more interesting New Orleans-based bands of its generation.

John Valby is a comedian and musician who has developed the nickname Dr. Dirty on the small stages of barrooms and college campuses along the East Coast. With an old-fashioned piano and unabashed dirty sense of humor, he offers obscene versions of classic songs that are made all the more ridiculous by his outfit of choice--white tailcoats and a black derby hat.
