Bath School Disaster in Bath, MI is remembered as one of the worst tragedies in America. May of 1927 saw a brutal massacre of 45 people including school children by the use of a dynamite explosive. The site of this massacre is where James Couzens Park, which is sometimes referred to as Bath School Memorial Park, is located. The park houses a cupola from the original building of the Bath Consolidated School and many memorial markers and plaques dedicated to the victims of the brutal mass murder. The park also plays host to many events throughout the year, and is also available on rent for private events such as weddings and reunions.
