This diminutive gallery is located on the second floor of a vintage office building, just down the street from the historic village square. Fronted by an impressive 12-foot (3.6-meter) door of oak and iron and topped by a large round window at the crest, the curbside entrance is one of the more distinctive elements to the place. Upstairs, you'll find a competent collection of nice pieces by area artists, some of which are for sale.

»The Wren's Nest

This handsome Victorian abode was the longtime home of famed Georgia writer Joel Chandler Harris, who penned some of this country's most popular stories for children as well as adults. Best known for his Uncle Remus tales, Harris wrote many of his landmark pieces right here in Atlanta, and the story of his life and work is on display at the museum. Guided tours and storytelling programs are offered, as well as a nice shop that stocks books and Brer Rabbit memorabilia.

The history of Marietta is forever intertwined with that of Atlanta, and is in its full, perpetual glory just 15 minutes north of downtown. Located on the second floor of the historic Kennesaw House in downtown Marietta, the museum features relics from the Civil War, historic artifacts, and a parade of furniture that dates back to the first settlers of the area.
