Hot Club of Cowtown is a trio of fiddle, guitar and bass that released its debut LP, Swinging Stampede, in 1998 and garnered the fascination of Bob Dylan, who hired the group's sole female member Elana James to be a part of his backing band in 2005. The ensemble plays a characteristic style of rockabilly tunes and during live shows the group incorporates a number of bluegrass and western swing favorites like "Ida Red" and "Orange Blossom Special" into its repertoire.

Austin, Texas-based musician John Dee Graham is something of a local legend in the Lone Star State. Graham has hardly ever ventured outside of his home state, but was voted SXSW's 2006 musician of the year and plays hundreds of shows annually. Graham makes straight-ahead rock & roll music with countrified lyrical spirit, fueled in large part by his smoker voice.

    1315 South Congress Avenue
    Austin, TX 78704
James McMurtry is an Austin, Texas-based musician who is known for his purist approach to some decidedly American genres such as alt-country and Americana. Whether performing alone with his acoustic guitar or backed by his band, The Heartless Bastards, McMurtry writes in the classic singer/songwriter mold, favoring vivid imagery and storytelling over personal confessionals or cryptic, metaphorical lyrics. Though there's nothing particularly special about his voice and guitar playing, it's the simplistic but intense conviction of the overall package that has won McMurtry comparisons to legends such as John Prine and Jackson Browne. He's also been known to occasionally use his songwriting as a means of political discourse, penning songs in protest against Wal-Mart and the Iraq war.

Not many musicians can boast about the resume that Matt Hubbard has racked up over the years since graduating from Oberlin Conservatory in Electronic Music. Immediately after graduation, the Austin local began working with the legendary Willie Nelson on his Rainbow Connection album, which he co-produced. From there, Hubbard began playing with jam band and side project of the Grateful Dead's Bill Kreutzmann, 7 Walkers. Though best known for these roles, Hubbard also performs solo work in the roots rock vein and occasionally writes soundtrack music for Hollywood films.
