    August 01, 2014 8:00 PM

Mitch Albom's play Ernie tells the story of Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell on his last night at Comerica Park. As Ernie prepares to take the field after 55 years to give thanks to a stadium packed with fans, he encounters a young boy who asks him to give one last broadcast, "the broadcast of his life." Recounting Ernie's love affair with baseball and his childhood sweetheart, this story makes its way through the highs and lows of American history, from The Great Depression and segregation to some of the most iconic moments in baseball history, transcending sports and instead offering a classic tale of 20th century America.
