    »Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

    Since its initial formation in Long Beach, CA in 1966, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has undergone a series of lineup changes over the years while maintaining its country rock-flavored folk sound. Among the band's extensive discography, which started with its 1967 self-titled studio album, the band's most successful albums include volumes one and two ofWill the Circle Be Unbroken, collaborations that were released in 1972 and 1989 respectively, as well as 1970's Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy, which spawned a hitcover version of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles." With original member Jeff Hanna and Jimmie Fadden at the helm, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band continues to release records, including 2009's Speed of Life, and perform live across the US.

    Assembled for a Nick Jr. television show of the same name, The Fresh Beat Band creates children's music that promotes musical education and the strength of singnig and dancing. The band is made up of four fictional characters, Twist, Marina, Shout and Kiki, who are respectively played by John Beavers, Tara Perry, Thomas Hobson and Yvette Conzalez-Nacer. The Fresh Beat Band television series premiered in 2004, and the band has since played several sold-out tours across the US.

    Written by the iconic musical duo Gilbert and Sullivan, Pirates of Penzance is a comic opera that has remained a staple in the classical theatrical repertoire since its debut in 1880. The show follows protagonist Frederic, who is released from indentured servitude to a band of pirates after 21 years of apprenticeship. With his new found freedom he quickly falls in love with a young woman named Mabel, only to find out that he was born on February 29th, meaning that his birthday comes once every four years and he owes another 63 years of servitude to the pirates until he is officially 21 years old.

    Terrapin is an Algonquian word for a turtle that lives in fresh orbrackishwaters. Because of the University of Maryland's close proximity to lands that have historically belonged to the Algonquain peoples, the school decided it'd be fitting to call the various sports teams thatcompetefor it the Terrapins. The name was coined in 1932 by Dr. Harry "Curley" Byrd, then the university's football coach and eventually its president. Prior to the Terrapins, the Maryland teams were called the Old Liners, areferenceto the state's moniker, "The Old Line State." The teams play in the NationalCollegiateAthletic Association Division I.
