»Jim Holder from A & E's "An Evening at The Improv"

    August 29, 2014 8:00 PM

A 18-year veteran of stand-up comedy who has headlined comedy clubs from coast-to-coast. Jim started his career at The Comedy Workshop in Houston, Texas, home of the "Texas Outlaw Comics" such as Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks. From those early influences, Jim developed the passion for stand-up comedy that he carries today. With an attitude aimed at making people laugh uncontrollably, Jim strikes incredibly close to home with his cynical descriptions of everyday subjects. His comedy is sometimes silly and hard-hitting, often spontaneous and interactive, but always funny. The question Jim receives most often after his show is "When are you coming back?"

    »Maryland State Fair

    August 29, 2014 9:00 AM

One of the state's biggest agricultural events, the Maryland State Fair showcases livestock, horses and farm products. It's more than a farm fair, however. Horse-racing, crafts, food, midway rides and games help attract more than 600,000 people each year. The event includes agricultural and livestock demonstrations, as well as horse shows and live entertainment. The fair begins in late August and runs through to early September. Event schedules vary and are held at various venues throughout the fairgrounds. Ride tickets are available at the fairgrounds for a nominal fee or purchased in bulk at a discount.

»The Pirates Of Penzance At Toby's Dinner Theatre

    August 29, 2014 6:00 PM

Written by the iconic musical duo Gilbert and Sullivan, Pirates of Penzance is a comic opera that has remained a staple in the classical theatrical repertoire since its debut in 1880. The show follows protagonist Frederic, who is released from indentured servitude to a band of pirates after 21 years of apprenticeship. With his new found freedom he quickly falls in love with a young woman named Mabel, only to find out that he was born on February 29th, meaning that his birthday comes once every four years and he owes another 63 years of servitude to the pirates until he is officially 21 years old.

    »Crocodiles

    August 29, 2014 8:00 PM

Former members of the hardcore bands Some Girls and The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower came together in 2008 to create the garage rock band Crocodiles. Although a duo on paper, the band’s live shows include a drummer, keyboardist and bassist who all add depth to its sound, a 1980s ballad and 1960s girl punk-inspired blend of krautrock, psychedelic rock, doo wop and indie pop. While the duo's music is much more melodic and less angsty than its members' previous bands, Crocodiles has been known to use bizarre and often morbid lyrics, especially on their 2010 studio album, Sleep Forever.
