The official practice facility for the Greensboro Generals, this 36,000 square foot facility features a standard 200-foot by 85-foot ice surface, as well as bi-level seating, four enclosed locker rooms with showers, three large multipurpose rooms, a full service snack bar, and a pro shop. Adult and youth hockey leagues and tournaments are available, as well as figure skating lessons, clinics, and daily public skating sessions.
Celebration Station is the perfect place for a fun outing. The amusement park contains an arcade with over 100 games, bumper boats, go-karts, mini-golf, rides and batting cages. Entrance to the park is free, and prices for each activity differ. A minimum height requirement applies to some of the attractions. Rates for large groups are available, and birthday packages include a meal in the on-site restaurant.
Lighted until midnight, this 18 hole, par 54 golf course is open from April to October and includes a practice putting green, a clubhouse, club rentals and pull carts, a full service wine shop, and a snack bar.
Triad Park, located to the west of Greensboro, spans 426 acres (172.40 hectares) of meadows and woods. Visitors can enjoy the horseshoe pits, sand volleyball courts, softball field and soccer fields for a small fee, or they can choose to tackle one of the many hiking trails in the park. The catch-and-release fishing pond is stocked with small fish. Reservations for picnic shelters and Woodland Hall should be made well in advance. The park is open from 7a daily, and closes at different times depending on the season.
Piedmont Environmental Center is a lovely place for all nature lovers. The center conducts several programs which are attended by naturalists and other nature enthusiasts. The center conducts trails and hiking trips and also guides school groups and other students. Their camps are also quite interesting. Please see the website for more details.
Men, women, and juniors leagues enjoy the four indoor and 10 outdoor tennis courts at the Oak Hollow Tennis Center. Lessons are available.
Designed by Pete Dye, this 18 hole, par 72 golf course has undulating greens, pot bunkers, railroad ties, an island tee, and several peninsula greens. There is a fully stocked pro shop on-site.
Situated at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center, the Grandover Golf Club features two 18-hole, par 72 courses designed by David Graham and Gary Panks. Home of the Ken Venturi Golf Academy, this club features a locker room facility, lessons, a golf shop, fine dining restaurant, and 1,500 acres of oaks, pine and dogwood covered hills.
