The War Memorial Building was acquired by the Shepherdstown Men's Club in the year 1947 and given its present name, to honor the dead of the World War II. The place has been refurbished several times since then and has taken over several roles. Now, the War Memorial Building is used as an eclectic events space to conduct the meetings and events of the club. The place is also rented out for private parties and celebrations. Located at the cross junctions between the German street and King street, the place is easy to spot and reach. If you are in the city, ensure that you pay a visit here, as a mark of respect for the dead and to appreciate the beauty of the monument.
Built in 1913 by H. P. Thorn, the Apollo Civic Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has withstood two world wars, depression and many other historical events in its long existence. Over the years, it changed hands and names though its purpose remained entertaining the locals. Today it hosts dances and plays for the community. It is also available on rent for cultural and private events.
