    Panda Bear

    Charlottesville, VA 22902
It has been hard to miss the incredible success of Panda Bear, which started in 2002 as the side project of Animal Collective member Noah Lennox. Panda Bear jumped onto the scene with a very large audience ready and willing to love every bit of it. Dialing in on the poppier, dreamier sides of Animal Collective, Panda Bear creates lush, thumping, songs with catchy melodies that are fun to sing along to, even if the lyrics are fairly cryptic.

    White Denim

    103 South 1st Street
    Charlottesville, VA 22902
Bluesy psych-garage outfit, White Denim was formed from Austin, Texas's highly procreative rock scene back in 2005, when the bands Parque Torch and Peach Train decided to join forces. The four-piece enjoyed success only in Europe for a while, but after signing to Downtown Records in 2009, the band finally amassed a US following as well. The group's gritty, high-energy performances have helped it become a popular live act both throughout Texas and beyond.

    Charlottesville, VA 22902
Greensky Bluegrass is a bluegrass band from Kalamazoo, Michigan that was formed in 2000 as a three-piece outfit. While recording its debut album Less Than Supper in 2004, the band decided to fill its soundscape by hiring a bassist and dobro player. After the band acquired these two additional instrumentalists, it managed to anchor its jangly sound and gave its live performances depth. Greensky Bluegrass released the first volume of its live album series, All Access in 2009, followed by Volume 2 in 2010. With its refined sound, the band began to reach out to a broader audience, particularly with its fourth and most acclaimed studio album, Handguns. The effort debuted in 2011 at number three on US Bluegrass charts.

    Edinburg Ole' Time Festival

    Edinburg
    Edinburg, VA
Virginia is the state where many like to nostalgically celebrate the good old days, such as fairs and festivals run the "old-fashioned way" which honors a time when the community was small and close-knit, and the pace of life was slower. This festival is no exception. Every year, the Edinburg Ole Time Festival recreates this era and its dynamics, while mixing in the new: the historic Edinburg Mill, talks on the Civil War, banjo and fiddle sessions, sing-alongs, wagon rides, live music, food, arts and crafts, baseball and basketball games, and a festival for children.
