Founded in 1984 as the Nova Scotia Oilers, the team has changed cities and monikers several times over the years. Debuting as the Oklahoma City Barons at the start of the 2010 season, the team acts as the top affiliate to the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. Several NHL players, such as Jonathan Cheechoo, Justin Schultz and Yann Danis, have donned the Barons uniform and the team hosts its home games at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City.
