The food is very basic, burgers and fries. The specialty (if you can call it that) is a greasy onion burger. But people do not typically come here for the food. There is live music every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights, and sometimes on Saturday, too. The music is rockabilly and progressive bluegrass. Aside from enjoying the music, you can also enjoy pool tables, dartboards and five television sets where you can watch the game.
Whether you are 16 or 60, there is nothing more fun than a night out dancing. This club, located in the Springdale Shopping Center, is the place to learn how to swing. But that is not the only dance you will learn. Trained instructors will teach you all the right moves in everything from swing, country-western, Latin or ballroom. If you find yourself downtown, Groovy's may be a little bit out of the way because it is actually closer to Nichols Hills and the Village. The club has a live DJ every Thursday night and on the weekends you can usually find music that is played over the state-of-the-art sound system until 2am. Most people come here to dance and the crowd is mixed, from young hardcore clubgoers to the over 35 gang, you can rest assured that you'll fit in at Groovy's.
This LGBT club located right off I-44 is hosted within OKC's largest gay resort, the Habana Inn. The Copa presents theme nights throughout the week and some of the shows range from DJs and karaoke to boxer shorts and drag queens, every night is something new. By Oklahoma City standards, this club has been here since time immemorial as it continues to ply strong drinks and great music in an unpretentious, laid-back atmosphere. This bar/club dedicated to local rock bands provides a needed boost to the sometimes staid live music scene of Oklahoma City. Despite its location in a nondescript strip mall on North Portland Avenue, it is still a pretty cool place to see live music during the week. The room is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and the excellent acoustics enhance the musicians chops on stage. The majority of concerts held here attract a large 'rocker' crowd not just from the city but also from the nearby suburbs.
This small but popular nightclub has been around since 1982. It is known throughout the city as being a gay bar, but it is often frequented by patrons of all ages, ethnicities and sexual orientations. Do not go expecting a variety of music. Angles is heavy on dance music. There is also a spectacular light show. For a wild time, stop in Thursdays and check out the weekly drag show.
