»Don't Talk To The Actors

January 31, 2015 8:30 PM

Meet fledgling playwright Jerry Przpezniak and his betrothed Arlene Wyniarski, a couple of Buffalo greenhorns who are suddenly swept up into the whirlwind of New York's theater scene when Jerry's autobiographical play is optioned for big bucks on Broadway. But what seems at first like a young playwright's dream quickly devolves into the stuff of which nightmares are made. As crazy divas and out-of-this-world egos conspire to drive the characters of "Don't Talk to the Actors" crazy, you can just sit back, enjoy the show and laugh yourself silly.

»White Arrows, Chappo, Raceway

January 31, 2015 8:00 PM

White Arrows began as a recording exercise while lead singer Mickey Schiff was attending NYU in 2009. After moving to Los Angeles, enlisting musicians and forming a proper group, White Arrows began playing venues in Southern California, gathering a solid local fan base fairly quickly with its modern psychedelic sound. The band, consisting of six members is often clad in Hawaiian shirts when performing, which complements the beachy sonic demeanor and summertime vibes of the band’s music.

»Other Desert Cities

January 31, 2015 8:00 PM

Recently one of the hottest tickets on Broadway and a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize, "Other Desert Cities" brings dysfunctional family drama to new heights. Christmas is always somewhat surreal in Palm Springs -- and it's made even more so when once-promising novelist Brooke Wyeth returns home after a long absence to present her conservative parents with a tell-all confessional memoir that exposes a pivotal event in their family history. Now, old wounds are reopened, childhood memories are tested and the Wyeth clan learns that some secrets can't stay buried forever, in this Playhouse 1960 production of the popular play by Jon Robin Baitz. Houston favorites John Stevens and Bonnie Hewett lead the ensemble cast.

»Cloud Tectonics

January 31, 2015 8:00 PM

Anibal de la Luna picks up a pregnant hitchhiker named Celestina del Sol and soon finds himself in a time- and mind-bending exploration of love, relationships and life in "Cloud Tectonics". A surprise visit from Anibal's brother Nelson -- who quickly falls in love with Celestina (who, it turns out, might actually be immortal) -- only complicates the already complex situation. Penned by Jose Rivera, "Cloud Tectonics" brings magical realism to the stage, cleverly fusing a love story with an accessible and philosophical look at the illusive nature of love and time.

»Broadway For All

January 31, 2015 7:30 PM

Usually you have to wait for the Tony Awards in June for a moving and musical tribute to Broadway's best. But now a glittering valentine to live musical theater has arrived early: "Broadway for All", a hilarious cabaret that spans decades of theatrical history from "South Pacific" to "Into the Woods" to "Wicked". For the third year in a row, the talented singers and musicians of Music Box Theater bring the bright lights and brilliant sounds of 42nd and Broadway to Colquitt and Kirby. Peppered with the company's own zany brand of humor -- and more than a few winks and nudges -- "Broadway for All" abundantly delivers on its title promise: an all-new, all-singing, all-wonderful production for all ages.
