    The Mighty Orq
    McGonigel's Mucky DuckSeptember 19, 2014 6:30 PM
    2425 Norfolk Street
    Houston, TX 77098
The trio of Texans known as The Mighty Orq combines timeless sounding classic rock, catchy pop melodies, Matt R. Johnson's mashing drum lines and powerhouse guitar riffs. The group's music, led by surprisingly sentimental lyrics by guitarist Mighty Orq and bassist Terry Glen Dry, can be traced back to influences like ZZ Top and Kings X. The band's debut album, Milk Money, released in 2005, found critical acclaim in the United States and abroad in the UK. With the help of celebrated producer Ben Elliot, who has worked with legends Eric Clapton and Keith Richards, The Mighty Orq's sound was noticeably sharper on its 2008 album, To The Bone. After a 2011 release of a live recordings album, The Mighty Orq has continued to gain celebrity status in its hometown of Houston, while also reaching widespread audiences.

    McGonigel's Mucky DuckSeptember 19, 2014 7:00 PM
    2425 Norfolk Street
    Houston, TX 77098
Conceived as the project of Noah Jeffries, who grew up playing music in his family's bluegrass band, Austin-based MilkDrive is fittingly a bluegrass band, but it incorporates elements of jazz and swing as well, bringing to mind the work of master jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli. With each band member highly renowned (and having the national awards to prove it) for their individual mastery of their instrument, the group's music showcases lightning-fast finger-picking, technical prowess and complete mastery over stringed instruments. MilkDrive performs live throughout the country, but plays the majority of its shows in Austin, where it regularly opens for major bluegrass artists.
