Shovels & Rope is a group that prides itself on simplicity. Based out of Charleston, South Carolina, the folk duo, comprised of Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent, uses two old guitars, a tin pan alley styled drum set (comprised of parts found at a junk yard), as well as harmonicas and heaps of vocals to create a style of music the two call "sloppy tonk." Shovels & Rope spent the majority of 2011 on the road, performing in various bars and music venues, where it was able to hone its approach before opting to record its debut album, which was released in 2012.

Bobby Rush started performing at such a young age that he had to wear a fake mustache to get into the juke-joints he'd play at so the bouncers wouldn't throw him out for being underage. When he played, crowds were so wowed by his deep voice and funky grooves that his age was completely disregarded. Well into his 70s now, Rush still performs around the world and was the subject of a documentary named Standing the Test of Time, where his fellow blues musician friends and family tell stories about the ups and downs of Rush's career. Not a purist by any means, Bobby Rush will infuse funk rhythms into his music and is constantly finding ways to electrify crowds with backup dancers and costumes.

Homer and David Bellamy started playing together when they were just youngsters in their small hometown of Darby, Florida, but didn't get their first big break until a friend of theirs recorded a silly song they had written in 1974. Two years later the two brothers would get their shot at fame with the release of the hit song "Let Your Love Flow," a tune that not only America was feeling at the time but also the UK, who really made sales skyrocket.
