Uneven Growth brings together six teams of researchers and practitioners to examine new possibilities in urban planning and design for six metropolises: Hong Kong, Istanbul, Lagos, Mumbai, New York, and Rio de Janeiro; each team will develop proposals for a specific city. This initiative focuses on the challenges urban planners, designers, and economists will face in the coming decades, and seeks to find innovative tactics in urban development to solve them. The resulting proposals will be presented at MoMA beginning in November, 2014.

Tibet House Us Presents Vagabond: Art By Chungpo Tsering - Opening Reception: Fri, Nov 14, 2014
Tibet House USDecember 25, 2014 6:00 PM

New York, NY 10011
NEW YORK, October 3, 2014 Tibet House US presents Vagabondfeaturing Tibetan Contemporary artist Chungpo Tsering.  On view from November 14th to December 29th, 2014, this exhibit presents Tsering's newest works that blends political and cultural themes to visualize the political oppression of his homeland and national identity. By incorporating elements such as Tibetan script, Tserings abstract paintings evoke a sense of collage, and trace the artists emotional perspective on what it means to be Tibetan in the current political climate, and without any geographical permanence. Chungpo Tsering Tsering was born in Dhingri, Tibet in 1979, later living in India, Korea, and Nepal before receiving political asylum in the United States. An early participant in the movement of Tibetan contemporary art in Nepal, he was the subject of a solo exhibition titled Charcoal Paintings at the Indigo Gallery in Kathmandu in 2001. In 2004, he founded and opened GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art), the first gallery of contemporary Tibetan art in Nepal, which was later forcibly closed given the political nature of the exhibitions. Shortly thereafter, Tsering was invited by the Korean Ministry of Arts and Culture to participate in a yearlong residency hosted by the Korean National University of Art. His work has been widely exhibited in Hong Kong, Thailand, Nepal, Korea, and throughout the U.S. Tsering currently lives and works in           California.                                                                                                       Gallery Hours: Mon - Fri     11am - 6pm CONTACT: Zola Nyambuu, Gallery Director, Tibet House US t. 212.807.0563      f.212.807.0565
