Pianist Thomas Pandolfi, an up-and-coming classical star, joins music director Ulysses S. James and the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic for a performance of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1, as part of a concert that also features the world premiere of a new work by Ross Wixon. Trombonist Brian Bourne takes the lead on Wixon's "Sparkling Dialogue", a piece written especially for Bourne's instrument and strings. Also on the program at Alexandria's George Washington Masonic Memorial is Liszt's Symphonic Poem No. 3. A Juilliard-trained pianist, Pandolfi's already embarked on a meteoric career that's seen him deliver performances full of passionate artistry and impressive technique across Europe and the U.S., with a diverse repertoire ranging from Tchaikovsky and Liszt to Gershwin and Rubinstein.

The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and Towson Universitys Center for Professional Studies are teaming up to provide workforce agencies located in the Mid-Atlantic Region a brand new opportunity to enhance the skills of the next generation of workforce leaders.  NAWDP and CPS are proud to announce the launch the Mid-Atlantic Leadership Academy for Workforce. This year-long program will be a mix of in person and online learning events all focused on preparing the participants to more effectively lead their teams, agencies, and workforce industry in the future.  The Academy is designed to assist emerging leaders from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia become ready for that next step in their workforce careers. With the passage of the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act with its focus on regional approaches to workforce development, the Mid-Atlantic Leadership Academy will give participants the perfect venue to build the networks that will be critical to making the concepts outlined in WIOA operational realities that benefit job seekers and the agencies that serve them.
