This is one of the easiest courses you will find in the area. The fairways are flat with very few trees to block your shot, and the course itself is pretty short. This is a great place for beginners (or those who have played for years but still at the nascent stage). There is also a driving range and two putting greens. The fees are pretty nominal and there is a discount for seniors and juniors.
This gallery on the University of Oklahoma campus has become well known in art circles for its fine collections. The space is open and very minimalist; nice lighting and unobtrusive beige walls allow viewers to focus on the pieces and not on the environment. Four main collections are housed here: contemporary, the Oscar Jacobson American Indian Art Collection, the Oklahoma State Department collection, and the Santa Fe Indian School. There are also special exhibits held throughout the year to display traveling collections. Closed on Mondays.
Enjoy the great outdoors at this 158 acre park. With walking trails, half basketball courts and picnic areas, this is the perfect place to spend the day. Children will love playing on the large playground with swings and a play area. The park is well-known for its soccer fields where the South Lakes Soccer Club hold games throughout the year. If you don't want to play a spot, just walk around and enjoy the scenery. Have a picnic by one of the two lakes and admire the waterfall next to the pedestrian bridge.
This public golf course is actually two courses; one easy, one a little harder. There is a driving range and four putting greens on which to practice, as well as chipping and pitching facilities. Need to improve your game? Get a golf lesson from the pro while you are here. There is a snack shop and restaurant, but there is no bar on-site.
Get out and experience Oklahoma's beautiful weather at Earlywine Park. Families can spend the afternoon picnicking and playing on the playground. For sporting enthusiasts, a highly regarded golf course presents a welcome challenge. In addition, a tennis center and a soccer and softball field are located on the grounds. If you prefer solitary activities, suit up for a jog on the park's one-and-a-half mile trail. If exercise is not on your mind, just get comfortable and enjoy a southwestern sunset. Kids will enjoy the Earlywine pool and water park that are located inside the park as well.
The Orr Family Farm is an actual working farm that has a wide variety of attractions perfect for the whole family. Go on a thrilling zip-line ride, take a spin on the renovated antique carousel, try your luck by panning for "gold" in the mining slue, or find your way out of the 'Amaze'n Maze'. There are also a lot of other attractions like the petting zoo that are sure to entertain little tots. Here, the kids can cuddle with friendly animals at the barn or go on a pony ride. Another adventure is the miniature train that goes on a mile-long trip around the farm. Check website for event calendar and more information.
Do airplanes amaze your child? Maybe you still harbor a childlike wonder for these powerful crafts. If so, check out this popular summer event. Visitors can tour all types of planes and learn about aviation. Afterward, relax in the shade underneath a parachute tent and watch some breathtaking aerial aerobatics; some performances even come with music accompaniment, fireworks or colored engine smoke. Do not miss the crowd-favorite 69th Battalion, otherwise known as the Blue Angels. It is worth braving Oklahoma's summer heat for this one. Admission is free.
