Founded in 1989, this community orchestra serves Bedford County and surrounding communities. The orchestra has two seasons per year, ending in free public concerts in the spring and fall. Their repertoire consists of orchestral scores representing the baroque, classical, impressionistic, and romantic periods, as well as contemporary movie scores, jazz, and pop arrangements.
Great blues music, a backyard barbecue competition, a beer and wine cafe, and much more is featured during this entertaining event.
One of the first buildings in Bedford City to earn a place in the National Register of Historic Places, the Bedford Meeting House is a neat brick building built in the Greek Revival architectural style. Standing tall since 1838, this historic meeting house was originally built as Bedford’s pioneering Methodist church. Currently serving as the headquarters for the Bedford Historical Society, tours can be arranged by appointment. The Bedford Historic Meeting House can also be hired for weddings.
