Located within the North Campus of University of Michigan is the Wave Field, a public art by architectural designer Maya Lin. The structure is basically earth that is shaped to look like waves at a sea. The artwork shows fifty waves divided by eight rows, spread over 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) of grass-covered land. Installed in 1995, the Wave Field has become iconic and widely popular, not only in designer circuits but also with tourists.
