The Rutherford County Courthouse in Tennessee was built in 1859 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 for its prominence during the Civil War. Designed in Classical Revival style, this structure spans over six acres (2.4 hectares) and features an iconic bell and clock tower. One of the main reasons for its historical importance is that during the Civil War the area was first occupied by Confederate troops in 1862 and later served as the headquarters for Union troops. It was also used as an air raid alarm site during World War II. The courthouse is rich in history and boasts of a beautiful architecture.
