When the laid-back, Philadelphia hip-hop/blues band G. Love & Special Sauce entered its second decade, the group's eponymous front-man embarked on a singer-songwriter oriented solo project. Shedding much of his main gig's hip-hop vibe in favor of an easygoing pop sensibility, G. Love released a string of well-received albums that bear much of the thumbprint of some of his high profile adult alternative collaborators like Jack Johnson and the Avett Brothers.

No Bs! Brass Band

NO BS! Brass is a jazz/funk band from Richmond, Virginia that mixes New Orleans jazz and with modern East Coast funk. The majority of its members classically trained, thus the ensemble celebrates refined musical excellence while drawing inspiration from the rowdiness of rock and roll and the cool, colorful chaos of jazz. The ten-piece released its debut album, Where Is Stefan? in 2007, demonstrating its brass-heavy instrument repertoire of four trombones, three trumpets, an alto saxophone, a tuba and a set of drums. Known for performing original material as well as hits from the 1970s and 1980s during its live shows, No BS! Brass lights up dance floors with the familiar feel of contemporary pop/rock mixed with the retro atmosphere of big bands.
