The A and M Entertainment Center in Houston is the ideal venue to host all sorts of events. Butler Stadium is a 8000-seater facility popular for hosting soccer and baseball games. It also includes a family skating rink that is a great place for parents and kids to enjoy some bonding time! Most of the Houston High School games especially baseball, are played here but you can also catch some famous Texan and national teams live in action. Also known as the Houston Masjid of Al-Islam, the mosque initially operated from the premises of a former church. Founded in the 1950s, Masjid Warithuddeen Mohammed's community is one of the oldest Muslim communities in the city. After damage to the former church building due to a hurricane in 2008, a beautiful new mosque building has taken its place. Reliant Park is a grand location for hosting a lot of events. It has arenas, conference centers, venues for live entertainment and stadiums. One of the many event venues at the Park is Festival Plaza. An outstanding cultural event, Houston's International Festival which features 1500 all-time favorite musicians from all over the world, takes place here. For one of the performances, they even had five Asian elephants joining in adding to the mass appeal. The great performances of the iFest also take place at Festival Plaza.
In Reliant Park, towards the south of the city, lies the famous Reliant Stadium. The stadium of course is the hub of football matches in the city and home to Houston Texans. Houston Buddhist Vihara carries the tradition of the Theravada Buddhism which was founded in Asia. The vihara is home to many monks who serve the community and provide Dhamma talks to beginners as well as the experienced followers. The vihara also conducts classes in Pali for the followers to understand the ancient texts better. It carries out rites and ceremonies that are observed by the Theravada and the Mahayana communities. Discussions and public lectures take place here and a Dhamma School exists that imparts knowledge to the young. The vihara is quite a simple structure yet, looks beautiful and provides a sense of peace.
