The Highlands Golf Course is counted as one of the best golf courses in Idaho and was rated the second best golf course by Mountain West Magazine. Functional since 1991, the golf course lures golfers with an exciting array of holes.
The Spokane River runs from Lake Coeur d'Alene, across the border into Washington until it finally comes to a stop at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Lake. The river stretches 111 miles across several dams and a natural waterfall, and was used extensively in the early days of Spokane's milling industry. The dams halted salmon migration upriver, effectively wiping out the steelhead population in conjunction with toxic water conditions from a nearby smelting plant super site.
