During the mid to late 1960s there was an explosion of blues-centric rock music in England. Musicians were incorporating the garage rock ethos of the new American style with musical influences that were popular in England at the time to create an amalgamation of sound that was unlike anything that most people had heard. One of the more noted guitarists from this period is Robin Trower. The Brit originally got his start playing six string with the group Procol Harum, but after feeling the trappings of group confines, Trower launched a solo career that has let him dictate his own musical journey. Trower is also in high demand as a touring musician and he has played with several well known figures from the music world like Bryan Ferry and Jack Bruce.

Thousand Foot Krutch is a Christian alternative rock band from Ontario that incorporates nu metal and hard rock elements into its sound. Under the name Oddball, the band released its debut album Shutterbug, in 1995 before revamping its lineup and changing its name to Thousand Foot Krutch. The three-piece band dropped its first official album as TFK, titled That's What People Do, in 1997. Despite the seemingly revolving cast around original vocalist and guitarist Trevor McNevan, the band found a solid lineup in 2002, after drummer Steve Augustine joined McNevan and bassist Joel Bruyere. Thousand Foot Krutch released its seventh studio album The End Is Where We Begin, in 2012.

Abigail Washburn is a claw hammer banjo player from Illinois--claw hammer is the term used to describe banjo players who use a down-picking motion to play instead of the standard way of rolling the fingers up along the strings. Song of the Travelling Daughter, her 2005 debut, was produced by Bela Fleck, who she later formed the band Sparrow Quartet with. Her smoky voice lends itself well to her folk songs, especially when she holds out her delicate legato notes, allowing the listener to hear the voice fade into a whisper.
