    San Antonio, TX 78205
Café Tacuba is an alternative rock group from Mexico that has remained an integral part of the Latin rock scene since forming in 1989. Creating a sound for itself that dips from traditional Hispanic genres as well as more modern rock styles, Café Tacuba has become a favorite for individuals who seek out interesting Mexican bands that push the boundaries of what is typically accepted of them. Though the group's popularity peeked sometime in the mid-1990s, it has nevertheless carried on and managed to grow into a stalwart act of the Mexican rock music scene.

    George Lopez
    The Majestic TheatreOctober 24, 2014 8:00 PM
    224 East Houston Street
    San Antonio, TX 78205
Probably best known as the producer, star and writer of his eponymously-titled television sitcom, George Lopez is one of the more prominent Mexican-American comedians who isn't afraid to touch on subjects that some might consider taboo. The Los Angeles-based comedian got his start on the stand up circuit and shortly managed to build up enough steam for television insiders to notice him. With the sever lack of Mexican-American comedies on television, some thought that it was time to give Lopez a show of his own so he could latch on to a large demographic that has historically gone untapped. George Lopez premiered on ABC in 2002 and had a successful run of six seasons. After the show concluded in 2007, Lopez went on to host a short-lived talk show called Lopez Tonight. Though he can be found making cameo apparences in various television shows and movies, Lopez has gone back to performing the one thing that helped break him in the world of showbiz: stand-up comedy.

    Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

    115 Auditorium Circle
    San Antonio, TX 78205
During the 1990s, the American public fell in love with swing music. While it's difficult to point the finger at any one cultural trend that would make people fall for a nostalgic style of music, there are a few bands that can act as culprits - one band being Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The group formed in 1989 in Ventura, California and after achieving mainstream success, (even playing a Super Bowl half-time show in 1999) the band returned to relative obscurity. But the band still continues to tour and release new material on a fairly consistent basis despite being nowhere near the center of the cultural lexicon.
