The Parker Manatee Aquarium is located at the South Florida Museum
complex. Home to three adorable adult manatees, the aquarium is a scientific facility that cares for manatees after they’ve been examined and just before they’re released back into the wild. The aquarium works jointly with the US Fish and Wildlife Hospital and other critical care centers for manatees, in order to rehabilitate these wonderful creatures back into the wild. The pool holds more than 50,000 gallons of water for these creatures to play and frolic as they would in their natural environment. At the aquarium, you can also learn about the manatees, their feeding habits, personalities, life cycle, anatomy and more. It is also home to Snooty the manatee who never leaves the aquarium.
