The Sanderling Nature Center at the Kohler-Andrae State Park is a monumental site. It features exhibits that pertain to the park's history, its inhabitant plants and animals and history of the surrounding region. You'll find thousands of books, genealogy materials, county documents, maps, and military service records at this research library that is open Tuesday through Saturday. Additionally, they offer various tours to historic sites in the area May 1 to October 1. Tours need to be reserved one month in advance.
Located 10 miles south of Prairie du Chien on the bluffs of southwest Wisconsin overlooking the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers at 500 feet, the 2,628-acre Wyalusing State Park is perfect for such seasonal activities as canoeing, camping, hiking, biking, boating, cross-country skiing, picnicking, wildlife viewing and fishing with its hardwood forests, pine plantations, bluffs, springs, waterfalls, wetlands and backwaters.
This combined motion picture and live theatre building was built in 1928 and has features including a magnificent Spanish Castle decor, a star-studded ceiling, landscape paintings, and spectacular chandeliers. Undergoing extensive restoration, it wil eventually be home to many of Sheboygan's cultural events.
