»Unitarian Church North

The Unitarian Church North, which is based inside a simple structure, is home to the Unitarian Universalist congregation of Mequon. It opens the door for people of any religious backgrounds and race, and preaches about the values such as freedom of religious expression, sense of justice and equality. Apart from the regular Sunday prayer service, the congregation participates in various social activities that involves people of all ages. »Marquette University

Located in the Avenues West neighborhood of Milwaukee, Marquette University is a private, coeducational Jesuit university. Founded in 1881, Marquette is one of 28 institutions in the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. Marquette is also Wisconsin's largest private university. It was founded by John Martin Henni who was the first Catholic bishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The university is named after Father Jacques Marquette, S.J., a 17th-century missionary and explorer. Marquette's beautiful campus is home to the St. Joan of Arc Chapel, a Medieval French chapel that made its way to the US all the way from its original location in Chasse, France. The campus is also home to the Haggerty Museum of Art featuring works from various artistic periods and styles.

»Church of the Gesu

The Church of the Gesu is a Catholic Jesuit church located on the campus of Marquette University. This astonishing church is actually over a century old--it was built back in the 1890s. Gesu is the Italian name for Jesus. This name was chosen to honor the Church of Gesu in Rome, the burial place of St. Ignatius Loyal, the founder of the Jesuit Society. This church, like many in Milwaukee, earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places, and in 1975 is was designated a Milwaukee landmark.
