Kip Winger is a hard rock guitarist and singer/songwriter who is known for his work with the glam metal outfit Winger as well as his own solo material. Hailing from a musical family based in Detroit, Michigan, he grew up playing in bands and studying everything from classical music to jazz. Winger joined Alice Cooper in 1985 and released two albums with the band before branching off to focus on his own band. Along with drummer Rod Morgenstein and keyboardist Paul Taylor, he formed Winger and released the group's eponymous debut album in 1988. Nearly a decade later, he would finally drop his first solo album, This Conversation Seems Like a Dream, in 1997, and he has since continued to release work on his own and with both Alice Cooper and Winger.

»Black Stone Cherry

May 05, 2015 6:00 PM

Black Stone Cherry is a rock band from Edmonton, KY that was formed in 2001 by lead vocalist/guitarist Chris Robertson, lead guitarist Bed Wells, bassist John Lawhon and drummer John Fred Young. Young connected the band with the same practice space used by his father's band, the Kentucky Headhunters, known as the Practice House where Black Stone Cherry began to record its hard rock/metal music. When the band returned to Edmonton, approximately 1500 people showed up to its homecoming show at the local junior high, sparking interest in the band's up coming release. The band released its self-titled debut album in 2006 and embarked on a tour of Europe soon after. In 2009, the band released its second studio album, Folklore and Superstition, before joining Nickelback on tour its Dark Horse tour. Black Stone Cherry released its third album, Between the Devil and the Deep blue Sea, in 2011.
