Selected as the spot for the epic Mormon Temple by Brigham Young himself in 1847, Temple Square is a true highlight of Salt Lake City. Ever since it was first built, Temple Square has been the headquarters of the Church of Latter Day Saints, containing not only the temple but the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Assembly Hall. This revered downtown attraction also features shops, restaurants and plenty of historical sites. A 35 acre site, guided tours are offered and presentations narrate the rich history of the parks, gardens, museum, library and interactive displays.
