Tom Paxton is an American folk singer who has led a successful and storied career since he released his 1962 debut LP, I'm the Man That Built the Bridges. Born in Chicago, he moved to Wickenburg, Arizona as a child and soon began spending time at numerous dude ranches, where he developed his strong interest in folk music. At the age of 16, Paxton was given his first guitar and he quickly immersed himself in composition. Spending years honing his skills in Greenwich Village, New York City during the 1960s folk revival scene, Paxton went on to became a breakout success after his debut album became a crossover hit.Given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009, Paxton has proven to be one of the more iconic and influential musicians to have emerged out of the 1960s folk scene.
