»Diskolab presents feed me at encore nightclub

    August 30, 2014 10:00 PM

One of several monikers of the UK-based electronic artist Jon Gooch, Feed Me is an electro house project from London that specializes in booming breaks, deeply resonant bass and integrating elements of modern electronic sub-genres, such as glitch and dubstep. Taking a break from his typical drum and bass work, Gooch used Feed Me to explore his electro and synth-heavy house tendencies, releasing a couple of singles on Deadmau5's label in 2008. The tracks were so well-received within the UK electronic community, that Gooch soon found himself remixing tracks for the likes of Chase & Status and Gorillaz.

    »Papadosio

    September 09, 2014 9:30 PM

Papadosio is a five-member band from Athens, Ohio that creates a hybrid of live and electronic styles. The eclectic group is popular with the jam band crowd due in large part to its tendencies to include long bouts of improvisational solos inspired by rock, blues and jazz. However, Papadosio couples this approach with livetronica elements that affords it the opportunity to play around with producers of dub and techno. This combination of somewhat disparate styles has helped Papadosio build bridges between fans of several styles of music. The band recently relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, where it is beginning to become a fixture on the music festival circuit.

    »Fitz and The Tantrums

    September 09, 2014 8:00 PM

While Fitz and the Tantrums looks like a band straight out of the 1960s, complete with a horn section decked out in white suits and a soulful front woman in a form-fitting, glitzy gown, the band's music is surprisingly not a direct replica of 1960s soul. This era is certainly the Los Angeles-based, seven-piece group's primary influence, but instead of producing completely retro music, the band incorporates enough modern elements to be considered a neo-soul group that would satisfy the tastes of mainstream pop-rock audiences. Further proving this ability to fit in with the mainstream, Fitz and the Tantrums toured with Maroon 5 after its debut album Pickin' Up the Pieces, in 2010 and won over fans across the US.

    »Ty Segall

    September 10, 2014

Ty Segall is a garage rock singer/songwriter from San Francisco who began his career in music as a part-time musician for several different bands around the Orange County and San Francisco areas. He branched out on his own in 2008 with the release of his first song "Horn the Unicorn," which he recorded on a cassette tape. He would soon release his self-titled debut album, sparking a series of several more records that music critics have hailed for mapping the evolutionary progress of his craft as a songwriter and a performer. From his effortless 2011 album Goodbye Bread, to his 2012 psychedelic and space rock-inspired Twins, his solo endeavors have resonated with critics and fans more so than any of his bands, leading many to proclaim Segall one of the premier garage rock acts to emerge out of San Francisco in some time.

    »Paul Van Dyk

    September 11, 2014 10:00 PM

German electronic musician Paul Van Dyk is one of the few sonic beatsmiths who has kept his sound updated as advances in technology permit. In the '90s he was using various turn tables and synthesizers, but in the computer age (read: now) he evolved and now employs laptops with intricate music programs on them. This modernization has helped give the musician added credibility amongst his peers and followers of electronic music.
