After listening to the Durham, North Carolina-based folk rock outfit The Mountain Goats, people tend to get the impression that the guy writing the lyrics is some Pulitzer Prize winning literature aficionado. The way many of the band's songs are structured around strong, autobiographical-meets-historical lyrics are responsible for many fans falling in love with the band and becoming dedicated listeners.

Organized by the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association, this event endorses people's increasing interest in the Arts and History. Participants are taken on an enriching tour of 24 galleries in the downtown area, where they discover and explore ancient works created by old, renowned artists. It is rather enjoyable because you are accompanied by fellow art-lovers, and payments from the tour go towards preserving these ancient treasures. The event takes place on the first Friday of the month from April-December.

Austin-based producer, violinist and singer Govinda combines a remarkable array of sounds to create something that's as spiritually cathartic as it is danceable. Classically trained on the violin, Govinda producer Shane Madden began to explore the world of tri-hop, dub and downtempo. Govinda now performs in an eclectic setup of live electric violin alongside a laptop of pre-programmed beats. A frequent headliner on jam band circuits, Govinda often brings belly dancers and live art to his larger performances, entrancing his devoted audiences even further into spiritual bliss.
