Fort Foster was built in 1836, under the supervision of Lt. Col. William S. Foster. This fort was mainly used during the Seminole Wars; it was abandonment twice by the troops owing to gunpowder explosion and disease outbreak. Over the period, the fort was used only when the Seminole activity would rise and American troops had to counter them. Visitors can check the replica of the fort that has been erected at the same site and avail guided tours as well. Fort Foster Rendezvous and Candlelight Evening Tour of Fort Foster, are the two main events hosted at the Fort Foster site.
