Often referred to as simply SCOTS, Southern Culture on the Skids is a rockabilly outfit that emerged out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1983. With neo-psychedelia, surf rock, alternative rock and of course southern rock making up its sound, the band released its eponymous debut album in 1986, but first earned attention in the mid-1990s with its fifth studio effort, Dirt Track Date. Released in 1995, the record held the hit songs "Camel Walk," "White Trash" and"Soul City," which would be featured on the soundtrack of the 1996 film Happy Gilmore. Southern culture on the Skids continues to release music in the 2010s, including its thirteenth studio album The Kudzu Ranch.

Botanical Drawing: Creating Your Own Seed Packs! Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, March 6, 7, & 8 10:00 am-3:00 pm    Instructor: Redenta Soprano Decorative seed packs have been part of our history since the early 20th C. We have admired their vibrant displays on racks and have been enticed to buy them for their promise of sustenance and beauty!  Whether you grow a garden or just want to try your hand at drawing plants, this unique and fun 3 day workshop will first teach you how to illustrate a variety of plants in watercolor pencil. These colorful drawings will then be incorporated into the design and creation of your own custom seed packs.    Prior drawing and painting experience helpful, but is not necessary.  A materials list will be sent upon registration. A materials fee for plant materials may be required of up to $15. Redenta Soprano attended the School of Visual Arts, Moore College of Art and graduated from the State Univ. of New York with a degree in Natural Sciences and Art. Ms. Soprano has been a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators since 1983.  She now works as a freelance illustrator, specializing in botanical art. Her paintings have been displayed around the United States, most recently at the Albin Polasek Museum in Winter Park.   Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit. If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.   Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom. Childcare services are not provided.

The Atlanta Braves are a Major League Baseball team and a member of the National League East Division. Established in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, the Braves are one of the two remaining charter franchises of the National League. The team played in Boston until 1953, when they moved to Milwaukee for 13 seasons. In 1966, the Braves relocated to Atlanta, where they have remained since. The franchise is the only one in Major League Baseball history to win a World Series title in three different cities. The Braves were dominant throughout the 1990s and into the early 2000s. They won the NL East 14 consecutive times from 1991-2005, appeared in five World Series over that time frame, and won the championship in 1995. Some of the great players in Braves' history include Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, and Greg Maddux.
