»Winchester National Cemetery

Located in the city of Winchester, this 4.9-acre (two-hectare) land is the final resting place for over 5000 persons. Numerous soldiers who lost their lives in the battles of Winchester were interred here. This cemetery came to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The Handley Regional Library is a well stocked public library, and one of the best in the city. The library opened in 1913 and was later renovated by Dennis Kowal Architects. »Fort Collier Civil War Center

Fort Collier was built to provide protection to the Northern entrance of Winchester, Virginia.  Confederate Lieutenant Collier, along with Virginia militia and Federal prisoners constructed this fort. Also referred to as Battery No. 10, this fort played an important part in the Third Battle of Wincheseter. Currently, the site is maintained and preserved by the Fort Collier Civil War Center, Inc.
